Due to current concerns regarding coronavirus we will be implementing measures to protect patients, the public and staff. This is to prevent transmission of the virus to vulnerable patients and others. This is an evolving situation and may change.
We have moved to a telephone consultation model; where possible and appropriate we may be able to use a video call.
Patients will only be seen face to face if deemed appropriate and safe following their telephone consultation.
For face to face appointments please do not come into surgery initially. Call the surgery number once you are in the car park - we will then take your car registration number and the clinician will come out to find you. This is to prevent close contact with other patients whilst in the waiting room.
We will be asking patients who do not have a nominated pharmacy for electronic prescriptions to set one so these can be sent directly to the pharmacy resulting in reduced footfall in the practice.
Thank you to all our patients at Ironbridge Medical Practice for your co-operation.
NHS PRESCRIPTION ORDERING DIRECT
Ironbridge Medical Practice is pleased to be able to offer a telephone ordering service for patients who want to order prescriptions. Please call Prescription Ordering Direct (POD) on 01952 580350 - Lines are open Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm.
We suggest you call the POD around 7 days before your prescription is due to run out. If you have a current arrangement with a pharmacy to deliver your prescription, this will continue.
Once you have made the telephone call your prescription request will be authorised by your GP practice within 48 hours (2 working days).
Please also allow your Pharmacy a minimum of 24 hours (1 working day) to prepare your medicines.
USEFUL INFORMATION DURING THE CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK
At this difficult time there are organisations that can provide support for your mental health and wellbeing. Visit Every Mind Matters to explore this further.
If you require a note for your employer regarding self isolation, these are available for you on the NHS 111 website. GP surgeries will not be issuing notes for employers for this reason.
As of the 16th March our preferred method of contacting patients will be by text - if you would like to opt out please call the surgery to speak to one of our receptionists. It is important we have your correct mobile number so if you have changed it and have not let us know please could you do so.
If you spot any symptoms which could indicate cancer, don’t just sit worrying about it at home – you can still contact your GP, usually by telephone or on-line. They will be able to advise on whether you need to get checked. If you have an urgent appointment for a diagnostic test, or are having treatment already it is important that you attend your appointments. The team looking after you will be able to advise on how to do this, if you are in doubt.
